Our Case Study in Creative Districts

BridgeThink team members Leila Valoura and Don Burton have had their case study “Downtown New Bedford, Massachusetts: A Case of Creative Placemaking in the United States” published in “Creative Districts Around the World: Celebrating the 500th Anniversary of Bairro Alto.” On the 500 birthday of the Bairro Alto creative district in Portugal, the publishers called for case studies from international locations. New Bedford represents Massachusetts and is one of two from the US with 35 total districts represented from across the globe. The publication is a joint effort of Lusofona University, Lisbon Portugal and The Centre for Leisure and Tourism Research, in Tilburg, The Netherlands. This case study represents a continuation of BridgeThink’s efforts to highlight unique creative communities, and because of all our work with the people of New Bedford, it was an opportunity to once again shine a light on the efforts of this vibrant creative community.
